India’s summer monsoon is amazing. People flock to India’s coastal states like Kerala, Goa, Pondicherry, Mumbai and Gujarat without being sissy about the rain as it us the time for rejuvenation.

India during the summer rainy season between June and September is a whole new place. After months of hot, moist air blowing across the country with sweltering conditions, people can't wait for the skies to open for the downpours. Monsoon is a welcome and grand spectacle.

Wind blow; sky and the sea turn into shades of blue and grey; clouds roll; a hush falls; storm bursts and there is rain. People dance on the streets, welcoming the rain, with faces turned towards the sky and hands outstretched. Visit Kerala 2015 The ‘Visit Kerala 2015’ Initiative of Kerala Tourism is significant. Known with its moniker “God’s Own Country”, it was launched by India’s Minister of State for Tourism Mahesh Sharma in New Delhi in mid April.

Ayurveda to Adventure Trips

The state has rolled out an array of innovative programmes ranging from Ayurveda to adventure trips, from destination weddings, heritage tourism to food festivals. Kerala boasts of a rich potential for tourism with its natural beauty and picturesque backwaters. In his message Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy called it an ambitious initiative and invited people to visit Kerala.

Kerala Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar said visa on arrival (VoA) facility at Kochi Airport has been a significant growth driver in tourist arrivals. India’s Secretary for Tourism, Lalit Panwar congratulated the Kerala Government and assured all support in welcoming foreign visitors to Kerala. Kerala Tourism is planning to foray into new markets including China and Sri Lanka. It plans to organize trade fairs, road shows and familiarisation tours. Campaigns in traditional markets such as the UK, France and Germany will also be stepped up.
