Indian novelist Vani Kaushal has won international acclaim in the United States of America with the launch of her new nonfiction book in Los Angeles.

The new book, Flowers Forever (published by World Wide Art Books) celebrates the four-decade artistic career of Elizabeth ‘Lizo’ Shahenian, an award-winning American Armenian artist.

Vani is famous for her novel, The Recession Groom.

The book launch, held in the second week of April in Los Angeles’ Whites Fine Art Gallery drew a huge response from art collectors and elicited the enthusiastic support from the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce. Whites Fine Art Gallery is one of the renowned galleries.

‘Flowers Forever’ is Vani’s second book and it will be available on Amazon soon. Vani wrote, designed and edited the book. Talking about her book, Vani recalled how she was approached by Elizabeth on Twitter to review her paintings. Vani said she grabbed the offer without knowing how she was going to do it.

Challenges behind the new book

Vani said the challenge of taking the plunge from romance writing to non-fiction was also accentuated by her unfamiliarity with the art scene in the United States.

The writer added that it was Elizabeth’s confidence in her writing abilities that kept her going in the tough project.

‘I had heard about American artists like Andy Warhol and admired the works of Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, Arshile Gorky, and Willem de Kooning, but all my observation had been perfunctory where I wasn’t judging or criticizing their work.”

The best part, Vani said, was her familiarity with the art scene in Europe. She had avidly followed the life stories of master painters like Oscar Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Vermeer. Vani had spent a lot of time studying and working in London, the city considered as a great melting pot of European art and culture.

Her first book, The Recession Groom, was a rom-com that earned rave reviews and widespread acclaim for the author from media and book lovers.

This Chandigarh-based writer is almost done with her new romance novel that will be out very soon.
